Wild Barn Owl Hide Rental
We have a pair of Barn Owls that live at the farm. They are used to visiting under static artificial light. Harnessing the high ISO capability of a modern digital camera and combining that with a slow shutter-speed means that you can do away with flash altogether for this workshop. From around May onwards until the end of summer, it is also possible to photograph them in natural light as the days are longer.
We will have an illuminated perch set up in an open space. All you need is a camera with a lens of at least 500mm to photograph the visiting Barn Owls.
Please be aware that these are wild birds so the frequency and duration of their visits can be unpredictable. They do however visit the set-up regularly and if undisturbed, will stay for several minutes at a time. We hope that you will be able to capture a few pleasing images of this beautiful species by the end of the session.
Currently we have two perches at the same location so that you can create a couple of different images. You will be provided with good information upon booking but this is not an instructional workshop.
