Big Cats of India
This is a special tour concentrating on the most iconic of all cats – the Bengal Tiger. We will be visiting a reserve with very high density of prey animals. It is peppered with Chitals (Spotted Deer), Sambar Deer, Muntjacs, Langurs and Macaques. It also supports a good number of Asian Elephants and other mammals such as mongooses, Gaurs, Dholes (Indian Wild Dogs), wild boars as well as a variety of birdlife.
Our goal on this trip will be to locate the many individual tigers that live within this reserve. We will be working with a local photographer and guide who has been visiting the park since childhood. We will also have the help of a very experienced big cat tracker as a driver to increase our chances of success.
The tiger reserve also has several beautiful resident leopards too which we will be seeking out whenever possible. A much rarer cat that is occasionally seen in this area is the Black Panther. It comes and goes within the park so it will strictly be down to luck whether we will see one, but it has been photographed on a number of occasions in this forest.
We will stay at a clean and comfortable jungle lodge by the edge of the reserve. The rooms are charming with ceiling fans for cooling, should you need them. Meals consist of tasty local cuisine served buffet style. Each day we will have two safaris, one at dawn and another in the afternoon, finishing at dusk. During our visit, we may also go on a boat ride along the river as an alternative to a safari, providing further opportunities to observe and photograph some of the diverse wildlife that inhabits this area.
